Virginia Yrun

Virginia “Ginger” Yrun is a visionary community leader who dedicated her career to women’s health policy.
Her public service includes membership and leadership on the Boards of Directors of Tucson Committee for Foreign Relations, The Industrial Authority of Pima County, Family Housing Resources, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, Child and Family Resources and the Tucson Museum of Art Docent Council. She served as faculty for Arizona Leading For Chang and served recently served as the President of the Tucson Museum of Art Docent Council.
Virginia served as CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona and of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. She was founding director of the Arizona Health Policy and Law Institute, a statewide collaborative health policy and law institute that identified pressing health policy issues and convened multidisciplinary teams to address them. She also served on the leadership team for the Arizona Children’s Association.
Virginia served as an Arizona State Senator from 2001-02. She chaired the Joint Committee on Caregiver Workforce Development and served as co-chair of the Senate Insurance Committee.
She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona College of Law and in 2006 earned an LLM in Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy from the same institution.
