Alma started her career in 2004 at the University of Arizona and worked for various departments around campus such as Multicultural Affairs & Student Success, (which is now known as the Thrive Center), Student Success & Retention Innovation, Dean of Students Office, University Compliance Office, Inclusion & Multicultural Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion Administration and lastly landed back in the Dean of Students Office & Campus Life. In 2009, Alma received the New Start Summer Program Service Award in recognition of her service to the students and staff of the program. Her dedication and commitment helped to develop and continue the traditions of the program. Alma retired on June 30, 2024, after 20 years of hard work at the institution. Alma had a positive impact on many students’ lives over the years and many continue to stay in touch and connect with her long after they’ve graduated. Alma's warmth, kindness and fun way of being helped her form lifelong friendships. She uplifted many colleagues and brought positive energy into the office every day. Her smile and optimism made her an amazing person to work with and she has earned every well wish given to her after all the years of excellent work.
Two of Alma's proudest moments were when her two daughters graduated from the UA. She loves attending various UA sporting events, especially football and basketball. She looks forward to spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
