Dr. Bonnie Colby is Professor Emeritus, University of Arizona, Departments of Agricultural & Resource Economics, and Hydrology & Atmospheric Sciences. She joined the faculty in 1983 and retired in 2024. Dr. Colby has authored over one hundred journal articles and eight books. She focuses on the economics of negotiations and collaborative problem-solving to improve regional water & energy resilience under climate stressors. Colby has provided invited testimony to indigenous councils, courts and the U.S. Congress. She became intrigued with effective nervous system interventions through decades of work on cross-cultural water and environmental conflicts and integrates that into her work in meditation and nervous system regulation.
Bonnie has guided meditation classes, workshops and retreats since 2004 at UA and for community centers, professional conferences, businesses and the public. Bonnie has a background in restorative movement, is a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, is certified in the Safe & Sound Protocol and is a trauma-informed meditation teacher. She serves as a meditation instructor and mentor for individuals and professional groups. Bonnie lives in Tucson with her husband Ted Weinert (Professor, Molecular & Cellular Biology).
