Caryn Jung
Caryn Jung coordinated the University of Arizona's nationally-recognized child care (including lactation resources), elder care and work/life programs state-wide for its faculty, staff and students.
During her tenure and in collaboration with colleagues, contributions included the:
• establishment of university-wide lactation room standards in the design and construction of new buildings and renovations (benefiting campus and visitor communities);
• expansion of sick and emergency child care resources;
• promotion of dependent care services with employee wellness;
• development of flexible work arrangement guidelines; and
• design of an online family resources map to enhance multi-generational experiences
Serving as its first, campus community elder care consultant, this inclusive, life-span approach offers agility in meeting higher education’s diverse work/life needs. This gerontology and early education strategy is similarly reflected in her Master of Science and Bachelor's degrees.
An invited chapter co-author in work/life publications, her program was featured as one of “20 Cutting-Edge Work/Life Programs” and in AARP’s "Supporting Working Caregivers: Case Studies of Promising Practices."
With gratitude to her family, friends, colleagues and nominator, Caryn is honored to be an University of Arizona alumna, retiree and Asian American Faculty, Staff and Alumni (AAFSA) board member.
