Martha Garcia
Martha "Marti" Garcia proudly helped her daughter, Evelyn Garcia, move into the University of Arizona dorms in the fall of 2005, but after a serious accident was unfortunately not able to see Evie earn her Bachelor of Science degree four years later. Martha was a very strong woman who showed extraordinary resilience and tenacity, traits which she passed on to Evie in spades. As an honoree in the Women's Plaza of Honor on the campus of the University of Arizona, she will be there in spirit when Evie is awarded her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree as part of the inaugural class of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
“No mother is ever, completely, a child's idea of what a mother should be, and I suppose it works the other way around as well. But despite everything, we didn't do too badly by one another, we did as well as most.”
― Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale
