Carrie DeMont
“Carrie, since your birth, you have seized the world and shook it for everything that you could accomplish. You have been an incredible Human Begin, Mother, Wife, and Daughter. We are exceptionally proud of you and everything that you have done with your opportunities. Know that you will always have our unconditional Love.” -- Roger and Susan Lawson
“To the most amazing mom.” -- Rick, Tierra, and Jordan DeMont
As the owner of DeMont Family Swim School, Carrie DeMont provides an impressive learn-to-swim program for children and families who attend the school and an enriching environment for her staff. The impact she and her school have on the students, families, employees, and the community is immeasurable.
Long before the commencement of the swim school, Carrie sought and achieved the objective of assisting children with special needs and abilities. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. She later received a Master’s degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation from the University of Arizona. For many years, Carrie taught at the Center for Hearing Impaired Children at the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind.
When she and her husband, Olympic swimmer Rick DeMont, welcomed their first child, Carrie began a new journey. She left ASDB and pursued a goal of bringing together their areas of expertise: child development and swimming. It began with teaching swim lessons at their home and eventually they opened the current indoor swimming facility. The school began operating in August 2009 with an enrollment of 60 students. Seven years later, DeMont Family Swim School serves an average of 1500 students per week.
DeMont Family Swim School is an exceptional organization led by Carrie’s compassion, enthusiasm, and perseverance. While the school teaches the life-saving skill of swimming it does so in a fun and welcoming environment. Carrie imparts a philosophy of kindness and understanding which not only translates from teacher to student, but from managers to staff, co-worker to co-worker and ultimately from the business to the community.
While managing the swim school and raising two beautiful daughters, Carrie still finds time to contribute to charities and non-profit organizations and donates an excess of $5000 worth of lessons per year. She also volunteers her time and resources to help those in need. The families she serves through her business and those in the community who are affected by her altruism are grateful for her service.
Among some of the most grateful are Carrie’s employees who benefit from her generosity, wisdom, and guidance. Her influence is considerable and the effect she has on her staff is palpable as is evidenced in the sentiments to follow.

"Carrie DeMont is the epitome of genuine. She is the type of person who will drive to your house to make sure you are okay when you do not show up to work (I would know, it almost happened to me). She is the type of person who will make a job interview feel like a conversation with a friend (I would know, this did happen to me). She is the only boss I know who hates being called "boss". Everything she does, she does genuinely and I am so fortunate to be able to call my "boss" my friend."
