Carrie Shumway
Carrie Shumway, University of Arizona alumna and Founder’s Society Donor, has been an advocate for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence across the nation. A former board member of the Joyful Heart Foundation, Carrie aided the organization on its mission to resolve the rape-kit backlog, develop programs that support survivors in their healing, shift public attitudes and behaviors, and ensure greater access to justice and healing for assault survivors. In conjunction with University of Arizona leadership, Carrie brought to life the UA Consortium on Gender-Based Violence, addressing the complex issues surrounding the epidemic of GBV on college campuses and beyond. With immense gratitude to Carrie, and the Chris and Carrie Shumway Foundation, the Consortium on Gender-Based Violence is working to inspire a radical shift in the way we think about and fight GBV at the University of Arizona, on campuses across the country, and in communities nationwide.
