Lexie Kamerman
Lexie Kamerman a former UA graduate was committed to all efforts she pursued and made an impact on many whom she encountered. She was always moving forward and accomplished many efforts along the way. Lexie graduated in 2008 from Knox College with a double major in environmental studies and in anthropology and sociology. She played Water Polo at Knox College in Galesburg on the women's club team and on a co-ed team. She was also named the first team all-conference honor three years in a row by the Collegiate Water Polo Association and received an honorable mention on the 2007 National Collegiate Club All-American team. She left her work as a director of membership services for the water polo association to pursue a masters degree in higher education at the University of Arizona. While at UA she served as a graduate assistant in the club sports office and joined the Resident Life staff as the Graduate Community Coordinator. She graduated with a Masters of Art in Higher Education in 2012. She spent the following year working as an Assistant Director of Resident Life at Elon University in North Carolina before she took a job as a student development specialist at American University of Afghanistan in June 2013. There she was determined to help young women in Afghanistan improve their lives by advancing their education. Lexi also had done volunteer work in Africa hunting with Maasai tribe in Africa and climbing a live volcano; she served in a soup kitchen volunteered in an animal shelter and provided emergency assistance in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Tragically Lexie Kamerman was among 21 people killed when a Taliban suicide bomber and gunmen attacked a restaurant in Kabul. Her smiling face and always helpful attitude will be greatly missed by all who knew her. This tribute was coordinated by a group of Lexie's fellow students.
