Anna was born in 1909 and lived the majority of her 94 years in Tucson. She came to Tucson from Illinois in 1930 to recuperate from tuberculosis. It was here that Anna met and married Dan Kinerk and together they owned and operated Varsity Cleaners just outside the main gate of the University for over fifty years. For decades together they served the University community in multiple ways. Anna was a founding member of the St. Thomas More Newman Center Sustaining Board. Anna's children and grandchildren all attended University of Arizona and continue to be active community members. Anna was a loving and wise matriarch who supported and counseled her family and many friends throughout her life. Anna was a matriarch for three children and their spouses seven grandchildren and their spouses and thirteen great grandchildren. Her love of family her faith and her positive outlook on life sustained her for many years. Anna passed on in 2004 having lived a rich and loving nine decades of life. Memories of Anna Kinerk are always intertwined with her role as a wise and strong woman a loving mother and grandmother an active community member an amazing cook and a dedicated Wildcat.
