Beverely Elliott
Beverely graduated from Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which was ranked the 5th best high school in the country when she attended. Beverely completed an A.S at Pima Community College, a B.S. from The University of Arizona, an M.A. from Prescott College, and began Doctoral studies in Organizational Management. She was a Fitness Professional and a Director at Canyon Ranch resort before moving into traditional teaching and becoming a school counselor for Tucson Unified School District, where she retired. During her tenure, Beverely developed an outline for students regarding a post-HS plan and college selection. Students also participated in a career exploration and selection process over four years. Beverely also developed a program to collaborate with administrators and teachers regarding students' academic success starting in Middle School. With a Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology, Beverely also served as a resource for the district and was an integral part of the Tucson Unified Districts Crisis Team.
Beverly's love of people, especially children, has taken her from a "March of Dimes" scholarship in high school to giving back to children in her community and across the states. She has chaired fundraisers for backpack programs, scholarships for graduating high school students, Cotillions, Urban League, and NAACP fundraisers. Beverely has also chaired the NBWA's (National Basketball Wives Association) silent auction, supported by almost every team in the NBA. Beverely and her husband Bob co-chaired a fundraiser for the African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County for two years and are still supportive of that museum. Additionally, Beverely has been a graduate counseling advisor for the University of Arizona, the University of Phoenix, and Prescott College. She has served as Special Recognitions Chair, Membership Chair, and Secondary Vice President for the Arizona School Counselors Board. She is an active member of the Tucson Chapter of The Links, the University of Arizona Black Alumni, a Lifetime Member of the NAACP (Tucson), The Tucson Urban League, and a lifetime member of the NBWA (National Basketball Wives Association), a member of the U of A's Black Community Counsel. She serves as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of AAMSAZ (The African American Museum of Southern Arizona).
Beverely appeared on a National PBS television Series, "Transforming Higher Education: Access and Affordability for all Students." Participation in this live broadcast exemplifies Beverely's regard as a national expert in educational counseling and guidance. She and her husband Bob are the proud parents of 4 children, 4 children in-laws, and 10 beautiful grandchildren.
Beverely has received numerous honors and awards, but nothing is better than being "Mom and Nanu.” A few of her awards include the University of Arizona Black Alumni Phenomenal Woman Award, The YWCA's Women on The Move, The NBWA's Membership Service Award, The American School Counselors Secondary/ High School Counselor of the Year, Arizona's School Counselor's High School Counselor of the Year and Various District Awards.
Beverely is honored in the Plaza on the African American Women's Arch.
