Heather Foster
We would like to honor our beloved mother Heather Foster. Our mom was the greatest nurturer and role model we could even ask for. Growing up the oldest of three daughters of an Episcopalian minister in Ohio she learned how nurture the heart as well as the mind. She always had us active in a whole variety of activities from singing in church choirs to taking leadership roles in school and Masonic groups. When we would balk at a new activity that she would recommend to us she gently but firmly had us "try it just once" and before you know it we would have a new favorite hobby sport or volunteer activity! And of course, when times turned bad, she would always tell us things will get better and that things happen for a reason. And she was always right. As a role model she always was and still is a hard worker and resilient. Raising us she always was on the run taking care of the house and of us. Once we were in school, she started working outside the house and always excelled. She was and still is a loyal employee only changing jobs when we moved. For the past 20 years she's been with Caremark and has always been recognized as a top performer. That example she set is something that we try to emulate. Heather's daughter and son-in-law built two successful businesses that gave jobs to hundreds of people in Arizona and Nevada and are still up and running today. Her son followed in his mom's footsteps logging 20 years with his current employer taking jobs of increasing responsibility along the way. Both are also active volunteers in the community just like their mom taught them. Because this and many more reasons that could fill a novel, we would like to now honor our mother with this commentary brick at the University of Arizona's Women Plaza of Honor. We love you Mom!
