Marilyn Goulden
Honored by her children: Tim Robin and Todd. From her first days as a University of Arizona student in 1963 until her retirement as Program Director of the University of Arizona Testing Office in 2007 Marilyn has lived and breathed campus life and spent many happy decades interacting with the students, staff, and faculty of this university. Along the way she earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation then worked her way up from Clerk II to eventually become Program Director of the Testing Office (enduring six reorganizations along the way!). Although her husband children and grandchildren are grateful she finally has more free time for all of us we recognize and admire Marilyn's dedication to her work. We know that during the 26 years she served in the Testing Office she helped many many students to achieve their dreams (and helped more than a few of them graduate on time!). Among the many highlights of her career Marilyn was a College Board Consultant and Presenter to four western regional campuses in 1993 and eight western campuses in 1996; was elected to serve two 3-year terms on the National College Testing Association board; and received the National College Testing Association President's Award for Outstanding Contributions in 2005. Away from work Marilyn has been a long-distance bicyclist a backpacker a writer and an avid reader of nearly any book that crosses her path. She has always been the youngest mother and now grandmother that any of her children's and grandchildren's friends have ever met (believe us we hear it all the time). Some might argue that it's her many years of interacting with U of A students that kept her young but we also happen to know that it's just in her nature to be youthful optimistic open-minded and enthusiastic. We are happy to celebrate Marilyn's service to the University but even happier to honor her attitude and spirit that allowed her to do it so well.
