Jacquelyn Kasper was born in Salina Kansas and graduated with honors from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1965. She came to Arizona to work as a reference librarian at the Arizona Health Science Library in 1967 after receiving her Master's of Science in Library Science from the University of Southern California in 1966. After serving sixteen years in the Tucson Public Library she decided to expand her horizons by attending The University of Arizona College of Law. She obtained her law degree in 1988 and began her law librarianship career at law libraries in Phoenix. Jacquelyn returned to the College of Law in 1990 as a reference librarian retiring in 2009 as the Reference & Government Documents Librarian & Adjunct Assistant Professor of Legal Research. Jacquelyn provided subject expertise in Arizona legal materials and legal history as well as government documents. She also became the research librarian for the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy LLM Program late in her career. Jacquelyn is active in professional organizations and has published articles on various topics including the life and work of Arizona's first woman lawyer Sarah Herring Sorin Arizona's First Woman Lawyer and Arizona's First Woman Lawyer: Sarah Herring Sorin. She also prepared a bibliography and research guide to Arizona prestatehood documents Arizona Prestatehood Documents: An Annotated Bibliography and Research Guide in Prestatehood Legal Materials: A Research Guide to the Fifty States including New York City and the District of Columbia She chaired the Intellectual Freedom Committee of the Arizona State Library Association. She also edited and contributed to a state guide for librarians on intellectual freedom and censorship Intellectual Freedom Manual for Arizona Libraries . Her latest work is a bibliography of Arizona legal practice materials Arizona Practice Materials: A Selective Annotated Bibliography in State Practice Materials: Annotated Bibliographies.
