Lynn Satterthwaite Loving

Teacher mother wife best friend and lifetime companion Lynn Satterthwaite Loving was born in Missoula Montana on a cold February day. Always happiest when teaching and meeting new people Lynn's connection with the warm Southwest and Mexico began at an early age during a school exchange program with a high school in Saltillo Coahuila Mexico. Her adventurous nature has taken her from Montana and Arizona to the heights of the Andes Mountains hiking the Inca Trail and on to the rivers of Bolivia and Brazil trekking overland and by boat. As a teenager Lynn was certified as a Red Cross Swimming Instructor. Over the years she has trained budding lifeguards including many in communities throughout Arizona. Lynn loves warm weather and warm people. She managed to convince her parents to send her to college at the U of A where she majored in Languages thus launching her formal teaching career and a legacy of service to others. While working the desk and switchboard at Manzanita dorm Lynn established a life-long friendship with her dorm "mother" Mrs. Lou Kettenheim and her husband Ted who for a time was a member of the University of Arizona Campus Police. After graduating from the U of A Lynn went on to specialize in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) in a Master's Program at USC. She taught communication skills to many students in Arizona thus facilitating their effective integration into the United States. Most recently Lynn has taught various Spanish classes at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff. Lynn expanded her spirit of service by utilizing her bilingual skills to meet the needs of monolingual hospice patients. It is now upon her formal retirement from a 37-year teaching career that her husband Gary and children Jenny and Mark lovingly honor her with this enduring tribute.
