I was born November 3 1943 to Frank & Edith Schafberger. My father died shortly after my sister was born in 1946 at age 28. Mother made the decision to move to Scottsdale in 1956. We lived near Scottsdale Road and Camelback where the Rodeo ground bleachers were set-up on what now is Fashion Square. I remember street dances in old Scottsdale where friends tied their horses up at the drug store. My sister and I attended Scottsdale High School. My husband Bob and I met on the steps of Manzanita dorm at the U of A and married after graduation in 1965. My degree in Sociology set the tone for continuing my education. I received my MSW at the University of Michigan in 1984 (after my children were in school). My career as a medical social worker continues today. Bob and I decided to return to Tucson from suburban Detroit in 1991 when our son was a senior at the U of A. Clearly the U of A has shaped my life. My passion never ceased. My heart belongs here with the cactus the desert and the mountains. Tucson is part of my sole and I celebrate the gift of living here. My grown children Stacey and Bradley have given me four grandchildren?Bryan Lane Huck and Piper. I hope they too will always treasure the wonders of Arizona?as it is in their blood.
