Kim is a registered architect and received her degrees both Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona. Kim's firm provides architectural services to institutions such as school districts cities counties and state and federal agencies. The firm works to make positive contributions to the public's enjoyment of community architecture. Kim is responsible for administration marketing and project management within the firm. Kim is involved with her professional organization the American Institute of Architects serving in various positions (including President) of both the local and state chapters. She also serves in leadership positions on a number of boards and councils including: Greater Tucson Leadership (Class of 2001 President 2006-7); Arizona Humanities Council 2002-Present; Arizona Youth Partnership 2002-Present; Board of Directors (President in 2005-07) TEMPO Tucson 2001-Present (President in 2003-4); Board of Directors Junior League of Tucson 1995-1999; Cornerstone Building Foundation Board Member 2002-2006; and Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time Kim enjoys traveling (Italy Greece and Mexico study abroad programs and travel in Australia Switzerland Germany Turkey England Holland Mexico and Croatia) distance and trail running bicycling swimming watercolors sketching and poetry writing. Kim is married to Dr. Celestino Fernandez UA University Distinguished Outreach Professor of Sociology and she has two children Alexia Ferranti and George Ferranti.
