Barbara Zion Grygutis
With more than forty major public art commissions in sixteen states in the United States and Canada Barbara Zion Grygutis has permanent installations of her sculpture in such cities as Chicago Boston Philadelphia Seattle Los Angeles Santa Fe Washington DC and St. Paul Minnesota. Her many honors include an Arizona Artist Award a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and awards for public art and urban design from San Diego Denver Albuquerque and Tempe. She was awarded a prize for Ceramics in the Urban Setting in the 1989 International Quadrennial Competition Faenza Italy. Following receipt of her MFA from the University of Arizona in 1969 Barbara Zion Grygutis established a studio in downtown Tucson where she continues her work. One of the founders of the El Presidio Historic District she has been active in historic presevation and other civic activities.
