Robin Rogers
Robin Rogers RN MSN CPNP was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing. She joined the UA nursing faculty in 1996 and taught a variety of undergraduate courses including acute care in pediatrics health experiences of human systems and care providers across the life span as well as graduate courses on evaluating assessment skills for nurse practitioners. She had served in the United States Air Force as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for 19 years. Professor Robin E. Rogers was tragically killed on October 28 2002 by a nursing student at the University of Arizona campus. According to an article in the Arizona Daily Wildcat Family friends and students remember Robin E. Rogers as devoutly religious very caring and a good professor. Phillip Rogers states in the article The memory I want for my wife is that she was a kind caring person. Not only as part of the nursing profession but in personal life as well. Rogers completed her BSN at Loma Linda University in 1973. She was one of the first pediatric nurse practitioners to be certified in the nation and was awarded a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Arizona in 1979. Rogers served in the United States Air Force where she directed an apnea-monitoring program served as Assistant Family Advocacy Officer and administered services as both Chief of Maternal-Child Division and Chief of Pediatrics Element. Rogers retired from the Air Force at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Rogers was awarded an MSN from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1992. Her focus of study was high-risk neonate and nursing of children. She joined the faculty at the UA College of Nursing in 1996 where served on UMC Pediatric Care and AHSC Library committees. She was a member of NAP-NAP and Sigma Theta Tau and was a certified instructor for Pediatric Advanced Life Support and the Neonatal Resuscitation Program. She is listed in 2000 Notable Women and received the Dean's Research Award in 2001. Rogers was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she led Bible study groups served the parish health and healing ministry and was song leader for contemporary worship services. She was also a member of the parish nursing community of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
