Lorna Ross was born Lorna Ann Burgess August 1929 in Walla Walla, Washington. After graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Fine Arts she married and had three daughters. Lorna was born 76 years ago in Walla Walla Washington and grew up on a ranch with her 3 sisters and a brother. She showed her creative side early enhancing rural life with adolescent pranks such as turning over outhouses on Halloween. As an undergraduate she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and as a young Mother of three daughters a member of NOW and President of the Faculty Wives Club at San Diego State University. She later left the group when it refused to become associated with growing social and political causes on campus. At age 50 as a single Mother Lorna returned to college and three years later received a Masters in Art Therapy from United States International University. She has practiced Art Therapy in several milieus with a variety of clients: eating disorders psychiatric units hospices and adolescent group homes as well as private practice. As a Registered Art Therapist Lorna has represented the profession at conferences and workshops with academic presentations as well as exhibitions of her clients' work. At age 53 Lorna came out as a lesbian and will soon celebrate 23 years with her partner. She remains sensitive to and astute on women's issues. She enjoys community volunteering being a grandmother gardening and in retirement doing art for art's sake.
