Liesel Rosenberg Zimmt
Liesel Rosenberg Zimmt was born in Germany where her father was a physician. In 1933 her family was forced to flee literally walking to Holland with no more than the clothes they wore. She lived in Amsterdam until 1940 and left for the US just before the German invasion. After finishing high school she obtained a BS in occupational therapy and worked with severely handicapped children. These taught her what even the most challenged among us are capable of and this lesson has never left her. She was married had 3 children and eventually divorced her husband. She became a manager and also an advocate for abused women and children helping to establish shelters and safe-houses for these. Her influence extends well beyond her immediate environment.
