Isabel Yaeger
Isabel O'Hara Yaeger entered the world on July 28 1969. She was born in Phoenix to Ann Shafer Yaeger and Thomas Horton Yaeger. Her big sister Elizabeth was five years older. She was named after her father's beloved grandmother who was a pioneer in territorial Arizona. Izzy was an adored child who captivated her entire family. She played endless hours of Barbie dolls with Elizabeth enjoyed vacations on Balboa Island and camping on the beach in El Golfo. Early in life she made wonderful friends in activities such as softball and Girl Scouts. Later she was a Central High pompon girl and was presented at St. Like's Board of Visitors Ball. She graduated from high school with good grades and tons of friends and headed for college at the University of Arizona. While there Isabel was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority attended the U of A summer program in Guadalajara and graduated in Latin American studies. She spoke Spanish fluently and looked forward to working in a field where she could use that skill. She had just begun her career in business and her future was bright. There is no end to the possibilities that her life could have taken. But that was not to be. Isabel died in September 1994 when a driver ran a red light and hit her car. She had just turned 25 years old. As much as she is missed she left a legacy filled with wonderful memories. Everyone who knew Isabel was enchanted by her beauty and personality. She was friendly generous and intelligent. She was just the most fun person in the world to be with and everyone who knew her will always feel that way. Today her parents and sister maintain close friends with many of Izzy's old friends and Elizabeth's daughter Emma Isabel carries on the name and the spirit of her aunt.
