Margaret Maxwell (known to most as Max) was born in Phoenix Arizona and came to the UA in 1967. She received her BA (Drama Education) in 1971 and her JD in 1974. She is the daughter of Dr. Thomas J. Maxwell Jr. and Mary Margaret Maxwell and is the eldest of their five children. While attending UA Max was active in student government as a Student Senator for the College of Fine Arts as an Editor for the Desert Yearbook the Editor of Course Evaluation as a Justice on the ASUA Student Supreme Court and as the student member of President Harvill's Student Personnel Committee. She served as a Summer Intern for Morris K. Udall in 1969. She was initiated as a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the Beta Lambda Chapter at UA. Following graduation from law school Max served as a Staff Attorney for the Southern Arizona Legal Aid as a Tucson City Court Magistrate and was in private practice. She was appointed as a Court Commissioner for the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County in 1994 and still serves in that position. Max has been involved in community activities including Habitat for Humanity Saguaro Rotary YWCA Board of Directors Southern Arizona Humane Society Foundation Board Girl Scouts VFW Volunteer Attorney and others since her graduation from UA.
