During her tenure as Dean graduate education in the College particularly the PhD program was recognized throughout the world for excellence in nursing research. Dean Sorensen was acknowledged by students and alumni as an excellent teacher both in clinical and classroom settings. Her leadership in national nursing organizations helped shape the future of nursing and nursing education. We who benefited from her commitment to nursing education and nursing practice are fortunate to have her as a role model. Her contributions have continued in her retirement through her multiple community service activities in the Tucson area.
