Native of Tucson. Attended St. Joseph's Academy. Attended the University of Arizona; majored in accounting; received a B.S. in Business Administration. Received Junior and Senior honors. Served as Financial Secretary at Trinity Presbyterian Church for two years. Joined the family business Shamrock Dairy Inc in 1948 working in various positions in the office. In 1964 was elected to the Board of Directors and has continued to serve up to the present in Shamrock Foods Company (successor to Shamrock Dairy Inc). Is currently Secretary/Treasurer. Currently serving on the Boards of Shamrock Farms Company and United Food Service Inc. In 1968 the McClellands established the W.T and Sara Winifred McClelland Scholarship at the University of Arizona. In 1988 received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Arizona Alumni Association in the University of Arizona College of Business and Public Administration. In 1991 received University of Arizona Scholarship Advisory Council award for support of academic excellence. In 1993 received Lifetime Award from the University of Arizona College of Agriculture recognizing a lifelong commitment to excellence in Agribusiness related to dairy and food processing. The McClellands and Shamrock Foods Company have contributed to the University of Arizona Business School for McClelland Hall which was dedicated in 1992. In 1994 shared the outstanding Philanthropists of the Year Award with Norman P. McClelland awarded by the Philanthropy Round Table. Helped create the Shamrock Foods Foundation Tuition Assistance Program which provides financial assistance to eligible full-time employees attending classes at various high schools accredited colleges and universities. In 1998 honored as one of three recipients receiving Women Who Lead Awards presented by the University of Arizona Women's Studies Advisory Council. In 1998 received the Arizona Alumni Association's Centennial Achievement Award. Was active in the YWCA. Served as Treasurer Finance Chairman and as President for three years. Honored for service and leadership in 1977. Received YWCA 1991 Woman on the Move Award. Long-time member of Trinity Presbyterian Church serving as Clerk of the Session Treasurer and President of the Board of Trustees. Currently serving as Treasurer. Served two years as Treasurer and Chairman of Finance for Presbytery de Cristo (Presbyterian Church) and has also served on the Nominating Committee. Has served on the University of Arizona Foundation Board the Tucson Library Board the Amity Inc. Board a drug rehabilitation program and is a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi. Helped produce a history of Shamrock Foods Company The Shamrock Way. Currently serving on the Arizona Astronomy Board the University of Arizona Institute for Children Youth and Family Board College of Agriculture. Recently retired from the Arizona Senior Academy Board. In April 2001 received the Metropolitan Education Commission's Crystal Apple Award for her lifelong contribution to education and to the improvement it brought about in the lives of children. In December 2002 received the Technology and Management Award for Distinguished Service through the University of Arizona Eller College and the College of Engineering and Mines. In December 2003 awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters at University of Arizona 129th Commencement. In April 2004 shared the Alumnus of the Year Award with Norman P. McClelland awarded by the University of Arizona Alumni Association. October 2004 received the Arizona 2004 Agriculturalist of the Year award for outstanding service to her community the state the agriculture community and the University of Arizona. In October 2004 was inducted into the Bobcats' Senior Honorary Society recognizing excellent service and a significant contribution to her Alma Mater
