Jackie Schneider-Radwin
Jacqueline Radwin's life can be characterized by a pioneering spirit that has led to many achievements in her professional careers. Jacqueline was the first woman General Counsel to the President of the University of Arizona. She was also an accomplished merchant of American folk art and quilts. Jacqueline Urbach was born 1931 in Albany, New York. She attended Vassar College located in Poughkeepsie New York for her undergraduate education. Jacqueline met Howard Radwin during her junior year at Vassar and they became college sweethearts. Their relationship deepened and they had every intention of marrying. Unfortunately, the couple ultimately decided to go their separate ways due to the fact that Radwin had another twelve years of medical training ahead. This decision was so devastating for both of them. They decided it would "be too painful to remain in contact". After graduating from Vassar College Jacqueline became the youngest buyer in the history of New York's Bloomingdale's. Soon after she met Dr. Stanley Schneider. They were married in 1958. Their family grew with the birth of four children: Jonathan, Hilary, Amy, and Sally. In 1959 Jacqueline and Stanley moved to Tucson Arizona. Jacqueline was able to earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona's Law School in 1964 while raising her growing family. After receiving her degree, she became a prosecutor for two years and then decided to open a private law practice. Dr. Stanley Schneider passed away unexpectedly in 1984. A year later Jacqueline moved to Phoenix to serve as the Chief Counsel to the Board of Regents for the Arizona University system. Jacqueline returned to The University of Arizona six years later to serve as the General Counsel to then-President Manual T. Pacheco. Jacqueline continued to serve The University of Arizona until 1997. By a "remarkable coincidence" that same year Jacqueline reconnected with her college sweetheart Dr. Howard Radwin. After rekindling their relationship Jacqueline and Howard were married in October of 1997. Shortly afterwards Jacqueline joined Radwin in San Antonio Texas. It was in this new location that Jacqueline was able to pursue her interests in American folk art antiques and quilts. She was able to do this through her website national advertising and taking part in premiere shows. She became a highly sought-after expert of folk art and early American textiles as well as a leading dealer on a national scale. Jacqueline Radwin was also a lifelong athlete. She participated in vigorous forms of exercise as well as bicycling swimming. On July 31 2007 Jacqueline Schneider Radwin died after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Dr. Howard Radwin her four children and twelve grandchildren. Jacqueline Radwin has left a remarkable legacy one that is a true inspiration for those who have complex and diverse ambitions in life. A long-time friend Jacky Milne so eloquently expressed "She had the mind of a lawyer and soul of an artist and loved being involved in life on so many different levels".
