Kristie obtained a Master's Degree in counseling from the University of Arizona. She has an extensive background in activism and philanthropy, usually with a unique and innovative twist aimed at bringing about change by addressing the underlying sources and causes of the important issues she seeks to address. In 1994, these energies resulted in Kristie founding the Amazon Foundation, which was a supporting organization of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona. Between 1994 and 2002, Kristie served as President and sole donor of the Foundation. With Kristie's support, Amazon excelled at developing and fostering groundbreaking and innovative charitable giving to provide financial support for women and girls as well as progressive feminist social change projects in southern Arizona.
"The Amazon Foundation was well ahead of its time and its grants clearly speak for themselves. Its grants focused on providing financial support for women and girls as well as funding innovative and unique projects to bring about progressive feminist social change in southern Arizona."
